The Story so far…
Hayley Nolan is a young, British, Writer/ Performer now based in Los Angeles. Writer and star of West End’s “Credit Crunch: The Musical”, Hayley’s talents include scriptwriting, acting and even singing! In fact, in 2011 Hayley performed the classic aria La Habanera from the opera Carmen on hit Sky1 TV show “Don’t Stop Me Now!”
2011 will also go down in history as the year Hayley created the character of “Sue Sylvester’s Daughter” for Will Ferrell’s comedy sketch website Funny or Die, inspired by TV phenomenon GLEE! Hayley both wrote and starred in the hilarious skit, which can be viewed online!
Illustrating her amazing versatility as a comedic and dramatic actress, it was also at this time Hayley was cast in the harrowing role of a rape victim for the public awareness charity film “Breaking the Silence” about gang rape in the UK.
As a prestigious Royal Court Theatre Young Writer, Hayley trained in scriptwriting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), Screen Acting at Mountview, Improv at London’s renowned Anna Scher Theatre and in Musical Theatre at the world famous Sylvia Young Theatre School 18+.
In London Hayley was a regular performer at Kevin Spacey’s new off-West End theatre venture, the Old Vic Tunnels, where she was also commissioned to write “Locked In”, a dramatic play about manic depression in which she was slated to star at the new venue. However due to Arts Council and job cuts at the Old Vic Tunnels, the production lost funding and its commissioner at the last minute. This was a huge blow for Hayley, but undeterred by the set back, she intends to take the production to Los Angeles in the near future.
Once again Hayley’s work on such a taboo subject is juxtapositioned with her most famous role to date – playing that of Mattel UK’s official Barbie! Throughout her year long contract with Mattel, Hayley toured the UK performing as the iconic character at many prestigious venues, including the London Barbican centre, Roundhouse Theatre, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Harrods and even on a charity trip to Lapland. It was during this time Hayley really developed her philanthropic work, granting the wishes of terminally ill children with charities When You Wish Upon A Star and Rays of Sunshine!
Hayley made her West End debut in 2008 with two productions at the New Players Theatre and Tristan Bates Theatre. This was in addition to her first solo concerts performed in Trafalgar Square and West End's St Giles in the Fields as the Pop Princess.
Hayley's career began at the tender age of 3 when she joined Starworks Operatic Society. At the age of 9 she was offered a role in a Young Opera for the Children's Theatre Festival. The following year Hayley took another lead role at the festival in the critically acclaimed play "The Beople."
At the age of 10 she and her family moved to France and what followed were the 4 most eventful years of her life (the makings of a great movie, right there.) She spent most of the year at the Bordeaux International School and the winter seasons at the British Ski Academy, at the foot of Mont Blanc.
When Hayley returned to England, she got her first job in television at 16 as a Runner and Researcher on shows such as Cold Feet, Stars in their Eyes, Girl Talk and Lunchtime Live. Then at the age of 20 Hayley made the move to London where she added "Producer" to her list of achievements. She produced and starred in the documentary "Acting Up" with Wideboys TV and Film Ltd - a concept she created herself. She has since written, produced and starred in several short films with an independent crew, and also founded the International Actors Company, staging and starring in their first production at RADA.
The following years were spent training in Performing Arts and then in scriptwriting. During this time Hayley also began writing a series of children's books and putting together a celebrity charity book for "When You Wish Upon A Star" - working with Kate Winslet, author Marian Keyes, Oscar winning Disney lyricist Robert B Sherman, West End star Denise Van Outen and BBC singer Jane McDonald.
With stage and screenplays, novels and kids books and an acting and singing career to keep her busy, this multitalented young British star is certainly one to look out for! Keep checking back on this official website for all news and updates.
